Gifts!

I got a new book. It's a hallmark book called, "It's a mom thing." It's hilarious. It's just a small book of funny quotes bout moms. There are 46 quotes. I am thinking of doing a quote of the day (not EVERY day, of course. But, here's the quote for today...

Children are a gift. A gift where you're like, "Wow, who knew a gift could make you so tired and lumpy?"

Isn't that the truth? I never was so tired before I had three children. Of course, who can remember that far back?? Just when I was getting out of the, "Woe is me, I am so tired all the time" phase, I torture myself and have another kid (6 1/2 years later). Now I have a (almost) 12 year old, a 5 year old and a 3 year old. The two small ones wake up at 6:30 every morning no matter what, so my maternal clock wakes me at that time every day as well. On vacation, away from the kids even. No wonder I am always so flippin' tired. But, in all complete honesty, they are absolutely worth every missed wink! Because what happens if I sleep later? I could miss something important!!

On another note, my birthday was good. I have some amazing people in my life that are very thoughtful. My friend Jeannene, who obviously knows me well, bought me a Starbucks gift card (as did my friend, Doug and my Father in Law and his wife), which brings my total card balance to $60.00. You'll never believe that since the 18th, I have spent 22.00 of that! Youch! Guess I AM a tired mom, huh??
My friend, Lisa, who also OBVIOUSLY knows me, made me a cake. Oh, sweet you say?? Not just any cake, but a Kitty Litter cake. You must look at her b
log (for September 13th...scroll down a bit)! The reason I say she obviously knows me is because she knows that I love a good laugh and she knows that (for the most part) I despise cats (even though I found out that her fave animal is a kitty!). So, she really did make me the perfect cake! Hilarious!!

OH, and my MOPS table leader, who I am just getting to know, bought me a Willow Tree figurine. It's the 'friendship' figurine.
As soon as I opened it, I was ecstatic. She had no idea, but I collect these figurines and her act of generosity absolutely made my day!! Thanks Angela, you Rock!

Basically, I am blessed with wonderful friends and family. I thank God for them each and every day!!

OH and thank you to all my fellow bloggers who wished me a Happy Birthday! It really means a lot!!

Happy Birthday to ME!

Me, when I was ONE, 31 Years ago.

I was going to attach a pic of me right now, but believe me, You DO Not want to see me at 6 am.

Yes, I am 32 years old today. Not quite mid-thirties, but I ma feeling kinda old. I plucked out about 5 gray hairs yesterday. All wirey and tough.
My kids promised to be extra nice to me today. I am sure they will have forgotten their promise by about noon, when they start ripping each others hair out.
So, what am I going to do for my birthday? Help in Nolan's Kindergarten class this morning, then I think I will go to the gym, finish up the laundry, then tonight I have school. Only, it's not so fun having a birthday at school. It's not as though I am five and I get to bring cupcakes to share with the class. No, I am 32. Nobody gives a hoot when you are 32. Well, that's OK, because I am determined to have a good day. How can I not when I woke up to the most beautiful little girl saying, "I love my birthday mommy. She's the bestest mommy EBER!" Then she kissed me all over my face, like a doggy, nut without the slobber.
Here is a picture of that beautiful girl holding her "baby" (her cousin Cole).

How could I not have an amazing day when I think of all that I have been blessed with? I have an amazing husband (who got me the cool bracelet watch from Costco that I wanted) and three gorgeous, intelligent children! Life is good, even if I am 32!!
