I actually got this idea from Cecily, but I liked the idea so much that I stole it! Everyone makes fun of me because every time someone mentions a movie, I say, "Oh, I love that movie! It's my favorite!" So, to prove my point, these are quotes from 13 of MY favorites. These are not NECESSARILY my favorite quotes, but they ARE from my favorite movies! Bonus if you can tell me which movies they are from.

Deceptively Delicious??

For the past few days, all I have heard about is THIS book. Deceptively Delicious by Jessica Seinfeld. She has recipes with (gasp!) fruits and veggies hidden in foods that your (and my!) kids will eat. I decided I really wanted one for myself (and my children), but thought I'd see if anyone was hosting a giveaway first. Well- there is! Hop on over to Island Review to enter to win this book!! Our camping disaster.

We tried to go camping this weekend. It was supposed to be wonderful. We had big hopes, that didn't exactly include rain! We went to Big Sur, Ca. We got there and it was raining. HARD. We set up my Coleman Geosport Shade (that I got on clearance for $25 at Target) and stayed under that until the rain settled. Then we decided to set up our tent. Halfway through, it started pouring again. So, we erected the tent as quickly as we could. Then, we went out to dinner. I put towels over our duffel bags of clothes, so they wouldn't get drenched. That didn't work out. When we got back, there were PUDDLES in our tent and our clothes were all drenched. Thankfully we all had some sort of air bed to sleep on, so we wouldn't get too wet. The kids all fell asleep quickly, because that's what kids do. BUT...our immediate neighbors of 25+ people thought it would be a great idea to PARTY (screaming and yelling and talking over each other...drunk) until about 2:30 am. Just freakin' great. We were not sleeping through that. So my husband goes out to say something and they have the nerve to tell him he is RUDE! My husband went to the check in lodge to get someone to shut them up, and no one was to be found (How exactly do they ENFORCE the 10 pm quiet time??) We weren't about to pack up and wake the kids at that time, so we sucked it up and slept as best we could. First thing in the morning, we went and talked the the people at check in, got our money back, and left. It was a miserable weekend. I will never camp again in October.

On a lighter note, my big boy turned 12 yesterday! We got him a bike, and he is SO excited. I love him so much-he's such a good boy!

The Booger Store??

Here is the exact conversation I JUST had with my 3 year old daughter.

Me: Oh, honey, you have a bunch of crusty boogies in your nose.
Her: (wiggling away so I don't get them) Yeah, I know, Cora got them for me at the Booger store.

Cora is her other three year old friend. I will have to talk to Cora's mom about this. I don't remember ever approving the trip to the Booger Store.

THURSDAY THIRTEEN #1

I thought I would join the Thursday 13 club. I will start by doing 13 Unique things about me. I will really try, but I have a hard time remembering who I am some days, so it may be tough.

Thirteen Things That Make Kelly Kelly.

1. When I was a kid, I wanted to have 10 kids when I grew up. Then I had my very first one. It was at that point I decided I wanted two kids. Then I had the second, and we decided to have ONE more. Some days I think the decision to have a third may put me in a looney bin one day.

2. I could not say the word 'cinnamon' until I was about 15. I used to say , "Simmanem"

3. I love beets on my salad. People think I am nuts, but they rock

4. I am the youngest of two children. Some days I still throw a temper tantrum if I don't get my way. I think it has to do with the whole, "birth order" thing.

5. One of my friends from Elementary to High School died when he was 18. His name was Elton. I was going to name my first son after him. But when I had my first son, his last name was going to be John. I thought about it, but it would have been very detrimental to his future, so I decided against it. I really wanted to use it for my second son, but my husband vetoed it.

6. On our first date, Zac took me to the Olive Garden. He spilled his soda all over my lap. I still married him. See, honey, I AM good at forgiving and forgetting!

7.My dad was born in a town named Brandon in Manitoba Canada. My sister would have been named Brandon if she were a boy. I was definitely going to be Brandon, because I was DEFINITELY a boy. haha. So, when I had my first son (and the Elton thing didn't pan out) he became Brandon. His middle name is Alexander, and coincidentally, the town in Canada adjacent to Brandon is in fact, Alexander.

8. When I was barely 14, my family went to visit my sister in college. I stayed at the dorms, my parents at a hotel. My sister left me with her roommates for an hour while she did some errands, and they gave me lots of tequila. I threw up all night long and throughout the following day. When I threw up in the car with my parents, I told them it was the dorm food. I told them the truth 10 years later. I don't drink Tequila anymore.


9.I spent this morning with 60 Kindergartners. One of those three hours was spent on a bus. I loved it :-) Those kids are adorable!!

10. I got a job when I was 13 bussing tables at a Christian Conference center. When I showed up for work, I clocked in. They told me what I was supposed to do, I looked in the Dining Hall and clocked out. I didn't actually want to WORK.

11.My all time favorite movie is the Wizard of Oz. One of my favorite memories is when the movie would come on TV once a year and the whole family would sit down and watch it. I still love it to this day. It IS a classic!

12. I can fold my tongue in half and leave it like that. People think it's really weird and I have only ever met one other person who can do it. Just last week, my 3 year old daughter showed me her tongue, and it was folded in half. Weird. Genetics are strange...especially in this family.

13. I don't care much for chocolate. It makes me sick.

Test Results.

Remember this post?? Well I got my results back last night. I figured with the amount of studying I did, I would AT least get 88%. A B+ would not have been too bad, right? She handed me my test and I looked down, and to my utter disbelief I got













100% An A++ (I added in the extra + for good measure)

When I got the results I just about jumped out of my seat. I know it sounds silly, but I have not taken a test in 15 years. It was weird.
AND we had to create a toy for a child aged 0-24 months and the instuctor wanted a picture of my toy to show her other classes. Whoo Hoo!!

Edited to add my picture of my toy.It is made of an oatmeal container. It has bells in it for aural stimulation and has bold colors for visual stimulation. It also has 3 different textures for babies need to touch things and a picture of a baby since babies are fascinated by other humans. I wrote a one page report on it, but I won't bore you with my great intellect :-)

Git-R-Done!

My mother LOVES Larry the Cable Guy. I must admit, I am quite fond of him as well (he's hilarious-just because I am in California doesn't mean I don't have SOME redneck in me!) I found out that he is going to be coming to the town next to me in December. I called my dear mother and said,
Me: hey, ma, what are you doing December 13th?
Ma: Gosh, Kelly, I am working. And I am testing a kid right now. Can this wait?
Me: Sure, mom, call me back.
Ma: Well, what is it real quick?
Me: Larry the Cable Guy is going to be in STOCKTON on December 13th!
Ma: {Screeeeech} No way! Omigosh! Really?? Where are the seats?
Me: I can get some on the floor, ma.
Ma: OMIGOSH! Yes, get them! Get them!

I swear to you, I have never seen a (almost) sixty year old woman get so excited over a redneck! But it will all be worth it sittin next to my mother while she is barking away listening to Larry the Cable Guy. I don't know which performance I am looking forward to more!!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Thanks to my good friend Jeannene for bringing this to my attention!

This is a Breast Cancer Awareness Wreath. Isn't it beautiful?? Please remember the women who have survived and the women who have lost their battles to Breast Cancer in October and every day. Don't forget to do routine self examinations to prevent this from happening to you.

If you have someone close to you who is a survivor, or one who may not have been so lucky, please leave me a comment, with your story, and I will be thinking and praying for these people!

I know Breast Cancer has affected so many people. My Grandmother (whom I never got the pleasure of meeting) passed away from Breast Cancer when my mother was 11. My Aunt is a survivor as are many friends. I pray for them daily.


There is a book that I HIGHLY recommend that I read at this time last year about "the personal stories of four women 'too young' for breast cancer." It will move you to tears and laughter, but most of all it will change your views on this disease. It is WAY too close to home. It's called "Nordie's at Noon," and it's about the personal stories of four women "too young" for Breast Cancer. It will move you to laughter and it will move you to tears, but most of all, it will change your views on this disease and just MOVE you. Please read it, you will NOT be disappointed.
